Culture and PoliticsThis section is focused on the many issues of culture and politics. This includes a variety of cultural issues such as marriage and family as well as educational topics. The overriding theme is that freedom, rooted in unselfish ethics and the classical virtues, is the core attribute of human success. It is also the dividing line between the left and the right in politics. I do my best to not be divisive, because I truly believe that all humans are equal and incarnational children of the same parental God. At the same time, I feel that it's very important to stand up for the sacred freedoms that all humans are given by God. Thus, I think it's unavoidable that freedom-loving people should push back against political and cultural totalitarianism. Ultimately, one hopes that those individuals who support or pursue totalitarianism will change their hearts and minds and stand up for freedom as well. The Ancient Rage of WomenMy wife is of Irish descent, and thus, in her heart, is completely Irish. I, on the other hand, from the point of view of many of the Irish, have the dubious distinction of being half English. Regrettably, Englands transgressions against the Irish havent been entirely erased from Irelands national memory.
more A Call to Eliminate Horror FilmsAnother way of looking at this issue is to ask, "Do we really want horror films to exist in a world of peace and unselfish love?" An even more pertinent question is, "Can we establish a culture of peace if horror films are polluting the minds and hearts of our young people?"
more The Value of the Family School of LoveOur dilemma is that broken and damaged children grow up, get married, and have children without personally experiencing what has often been called "the family school of love."
more Communication: The Conduit for True Love in MarriageWe can communicate our thoughts and feelings through actions or facial expressions -- but ultimately, as rational people who think about many abstract concepts such as eternal love and invisible hopes and dreams, we need to express our hearts through words. We need to talk.
more Creating a Culture of HeartCentering our culture on the value or ethic of "unselfish heart" will have powerful consequences. Legal and legislative decisions, for example, that are now often made without heart, would never ignore the human suffering that they could potentially cause. Business affairs can and should be conducted with heart, rather than the current standard of "abandon all heart, ye who enter here."
more Fidelity & True LovePerhaps one of the more devastating results of the free sex revolution of the 1960's has been the damage to the conceptual reasons to be faithful to one's spouse. After all, as many people succinctly stated, the animals do it with anyone they wish, so why shouldn't we?
more The Eternal Castle of True LoveThe knowledge that we marry "for eternity" creates a tremendous change in our perspective about our relationship with our spouse. The subsequent commitment to stay married for eternity helps one develop long-range patience when difficulties in the relationship arise.
more Maintaining an Atmosphere of Heart in MarriageUnlike flowers, which automatically clean the fouled air from their gardens, we humans have to make a conscious effort to clean and maintain a beautiful atmosphere of heart and love. Regrettably, often not much attention is paid to this process in the married lives of couples.
more Unselfish Love: The Engine that Drives Successful Marriages and FamiliesWhen a husband and wife adopt unselfish love as their primary and daily methodology, their love for each other will grow more beautiful as the years go by. They will begin to treat each other with increasing care and consideration. To do otherwise would go against their value system.
more Resurrecting and Uplifting Our Children's HeartsExcerpted from the book Becoming a Parent of True Love When Kim or I reprimand our children, the most important task we have afterwards is to resurrect their heart and feeling.
